Blanca Cabrera-Vera, M.A. Psychotherapist
__
In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in an clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness.  Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.
~Mahatma Gandhi

What I offer my clients in therapy is the active silent witnessing of their predicaments. My clients receive, during our time together, my undivided attention and wisdom.  In the process of active silent witnessing, they will see a mirroring of their current condition and be able to get in touch with their own wisdom, compassion, understanding and real love.  They will realize that they themselves are the wellspring of what they are seeking.  They will achieve more clarity of perception and feel a sense of direction that connects them with previous higher levels of functioning.

Individual Therapy Sessions

These are one on one, one hour psychotherapy sessions, 50 minutes in length, at any one of my three locations.   My specialties cover a wide range of human problems.  I highly recommend that two sessions are scheduled back to back for the first booking.  Many times clients, who are experiencing feelings of being overwhelmed, need to gain clarity and a strong sense of direction in an extended first session.

Couples Therapy Sessions

These are session for couples facing any type of challenge in their relationship.  They include communication problems, sexual difficulties, parenting styles, in-laws conflicts, infidelity, etc.  A one hour psychotherapy session is 50 minutes in length,  and can be booked at any one of my three locations.  It is recommended  that two sessions are scheduled back to back for the first booking.  Couples often arrive for therapy after they have already attempted many creative ways of resolving their problems. They are feeling helpless, hopeless, confused, frustrated and very hurt.   Therapy is their last resort.   A two hour session aims at normalizing their situation, initializing an understanding of each others' perspective and establishing a sense of hope in resolving their problems, with the least possible damage to everyone involved.

Family Therapy Sessions

All families go through challenges.  At different times, families feel stuck and immobilized in their life.  Some families look for professional help when their challenges or difficulties outweigh their own resources to resolve them.  Families come to therapy because they want to figure out healthier ways of re-establishing function, structure and happier interactions within their family.  A one hour psychotherapy session, 50 minutes in length, can be booked for family therapy sessions at any one of my three locations.  Given the complexity of family dynamics, a two hour first session is highly recommended.
